The legal bit, in plain English

Privacy policy

You are about to send your name, your email and probably a photo of a ring you want made. That deserves a straight answer about what happens to it, so here it is without the padding.

The short version

• We collect what you type into the enquiry form and the photos you attach, and we use it for one thing: designing and quoting your ring.
• It is stored on our own server and emailed to our team's inbox. Only our team reads it.
• We do not sell your details, and we do not hand them to anyone else to advertise to you.
• Ask us to delete it and it is deleted.

What we collect, and when

• When you ask about a ring: your first and last name, your email address, your phone number if you choose to give it, how you would prefer to be contacted, the ring you built or the board you saved, an optional budget, an optional date you need it by, whatever you write in the notes box, and any photos you upload.
• When you make an account (optional, and only if you want to track your own enquiry): your email address and a password. The password is stored only as a scrambled value, never as text, so nobody here can read it — not even us.
• Automatically, on any visit: our server keeps ordinary technical logs. A cookie is set only when you sign in, and only to keep you signed in.
• Nothing else. No third-party advertising trackers, no data brokers, no scraped contact lists.

Where your enquiry actually goes

Into a database on our own server, and by email to our team's inbox. Two companies are involved in moving it, and both are ordinary service providers rather than advertisers:

• Our hosting provider keeps the server running.
• Zoho Mail carries the email, because that is our mail host.

Cookies and tracking, honestly

Right now this site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. There is no Google Analytics account, no Facebook pixel and no ad-network tag on these pages — you can check for yourself with any browser extension that lists them.

One thing is remembered, and it is kept on your own device rather than sent anywhere. When you first arrive we note, in your browser's own storage, the page you landed on, the site that sent you here and any campaign tag in the link that brought you. It is kept for 30 days and it is sent along with your enquiry if you send one, so that we know which of our pages actually earns an enquiry. It never leaves our own server and no advertiser sees it. Clearing your browser data removes it, and so does asking us.

If we do start using third-party measurement, this page will say so before it happens, and the tools will be the ordinary ones (Google Analytics and, if we advertise, the ad platform's own conversion tag) rather than anything exotic.

One third party does load on every page for practical reasons: the typeface comes from Google Fonts, which means Google's servers see the IP address of each visitor. Nothing else about you is sent, and we are happy to self-host the font if you would rather that request did not leave the site at all.

Photos you send us

Photos of a ring you like, a sketch, or your own hand are the most useful thing you can send, and they are treated like everything else: stored on our server, seen and used by our team to design your ring.

Two things worth saying plainly. If you send us a photo of someone else's ring as inspiration, we copy the idea, not the jewellery — and we never publish a photo you sent us without asking you first. If you do give us permission to show your finished ring, you can withdraw that at any time and we take it down.

How long we keep it

• An enquiry that does not turn into a ring: kept while the conversation is live, then removed on request.
• A ring we made for you: the record is kept, because it is the specification of your ring and you may well want it resized, repaired or matched years later. That is the whole point of buying from a jeweller you can reach.
• An account you created: kept until you ask us to close it.

Your choices

Email us and ask, in whatever words you like, for any of these. There is no form and no process.

• A copy of everything we hold about you.
• Correction of anything wrong.
• Deletion of your enquiry and your photos, which we will do.
• An end to any further contact.

Children

This site is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us details, tell us and we will remove them.

Changes to this page

If what we do changes, this page changes, and the date at the bottom moves. It reflects the site as it is, not as it was when the page was first written.

We will never publish your ring or your photos without asking you first.
